OUR PROGRAMS

Philosophy

Our philosophy is that kids should be allowed to be kids. By interacting with their environment and peers, children will learn substantially more, than if they were restlessly sitting in chairs for hours on end. When unhindered, children’s imagination and curiosity can create amazing things. Every day is an adventure at Bluebird Day home, and we never know where it might lead us. We might find ourselves reading in the backyard, touring Devonian Gardens, dressing up in comfy pajamas or picking flowers at the local park. When the weather is hot, we take advantage of the sun and dress up in our swimsuits for a refreshing pool party. If there’s snow on the ground and the air isn’t too chilly, you can often find us building snowmen. On the days with rainy weather, we entertain ourselves with board games and storytime. You can expect our day to consist of free play, group activities, storytime, snack/meals, naptime, and outdoor activities. Calgary is our playground and school

WE CLOSE DEC. 22 FOR THE YEAR.

Policies and Regulations

Discipline

We firmly believe that there are better methods of discipline than physical/aggressive ways. Your children will NEVER have a hand laid on them or a voice yelled at them. Our method is all about positive guidance, which studies have proven children respond to more. We also believe in being proactive. The moment we notice an issue arising, we inform the parents, and together, we decide the best plan of action.

Illness

If your child is sick, we ask that you do not bring them to the day home. For the health of the other children and the fast recovery of your child, it is essential they stay home and recuperate. In addition, parents must sign a medication consent form or give written consent, prior to any medication being administered.

If your child displays symptoms of any illness while at the day home, parents will be contacted and required to pick up their child as soon as possible. If the child is contagious, he or she will be cared for, away from the other children, until the parents arrive.

Absence

If your child is unable to make it to the day home that day, parents must call in the morning and notify me that their child will not be attending that day.

Health & Safety

Safety is the number one priority of our day home. To that end, we have taken multiple steps to ensure your child’s health. Bluebird is a smoke-free environment, both indoors and outdoors. We have first aid kits and fire extinguishers and practice emergency evacuations. Our child care provider is trained in first aid & CPR.

We serve nutritious lunch and snacks, but depending on the child’s age, the meals might differ. If your children have allergies or a special diet, we will work with the parents to accommodate their needs.

Termination

If for any reason, you decide Bluebird Dayhome no longer accommodates your family’s needs, we require 30 days notice.
